Dr. Shannon E. Perry is Professor Emerita from the School of Nursing, San Francisco State University. She served as Interim Director and Director of the School of Nursing from 1994-1999 and Coordinator of the Child and Adolescent Development Program in the Marian Wright Edelman Institute from 2000-2002. She has accompanied groups of students to the United Kingdom and Ireland on several occasions, to Ghana, Italy twice, China three times, and Thailand.  She has traveled internationally extensively for business and pleasure.

Dr. Perry’s doctorate is in Educational Psychology with a specialization in Child Development; her clinical specialty is maternal-newborn nursing. She has taught maternity nursing and child and adolescent development courses. She is co-author of three maternity nursing textbooks and numerous articles on maternal-child topics as well as legal aspects of nursing and the nurse as an expert witness.  She also is a frequent contributor of travel stories to local newspapers.

Dr. Perry is a member of the Arizona Nurses Association, the American Academy of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau, International, AWHONN, National League for Nursing,  American Association for the History of Nursing, various alumni associations, the Oregon-California Trail Association and the Anza Society.
